The Digital Desktop as a Mirror

Virtual Minimalism

We often talk about the importance of a clear physical desk, but we ignore the chaos of our digital workspaces. This morning, I realized that the dozens of “temporary” files and unsorted icons on my screen were acting like low-level static in my brain.

Every icon is a tiny demand for attention, a reminder of a task unfinished or a thought half-formed. I spent ten minutes ruthlessly deleting and archiving. The mental lightness that followed was immediate. If you want to think clearly, you must first clear the mirrors you look into every day.
